Glossary Item Box

Data Dynamics Reports offers a variety of report items. Each may be used in the body of the report, or within data regions.

Note: Take care in the naming of report items, as these are displayed to end users in the advanced search feature of the viewer.

TextBox

The TextBox displays data, and is the default report item which appears in each cell of a table or matrix. This is also the type of report item which is created when you drag a field from the Data Explorer onto the report. You can use expressions to modify the data which appears in a TextBox.

FormattedText

The FormattedText report item also displays data, but it allows you to format selected areas of text within the control in different ways. This report item accepts the XHTML input.

Barcode

The Barcode report item renders scannable barcodes in any of 23 popular symbologies. You can control check sums, bar width, rotation, quiet zones, caption locations, and many other properties, so this report item obviates the need to purchase a separate component.

Image

The Image report item displays an image from a database, a URL, or one that is embedded in the document.  The report definition supports the following image types: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, and .png.

Line

The Line report item is a graphical element and has no data associated with it. You can use lines of varying weights, colors, and styles to highlight regions of your reports and to add style and polish.

Rectangle

The Rectangle report item is a graphical element which may be used as a container, and has no data associated with it. As a container, the rectangle serves to keep the report items it contains together when they might otherwise grow apart due to the growth of adjacent report items.

Subreport

The Subreport item displays another report within the report. You can pass a parameter to the subreport from the main report to keep it in synch with the other data displayed. Please note that since each subreport instance is run as a separate report, this can cause a noticeable difference in performance with large reports. In such cases, you may wish to consider using a data region instead.

Bullet Graph

The bullet graph item is a replacement for a gauge. This dashboard item displays a value, a target, and up to 3 color coded regions to indicate performance.

Sparkline

The sparkline is used to display a word sized graph which depicts data trends. Supports line, area, columns, and whiskers.

Calendar

Used to display date based data or events in a calendar format.
